Set up your home page in Reel

Applies to Reel v0.1.0 and laterUpdated 2026-10-118 min read

Reel’s home page is built from sections. Each preset starts with its own set, and you can add, remove and reorder them in the theme editor. This guide covers the sections made for the home page and the choices each one asks for. You don’t need code for any step.

1. Open the home page in the editor

Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize. The editor opens on the home page. The left panel lists its sections from top to bottom. Click Add section to add one, drag a section to move it, or click the eye icon to hide it.

2. Type weather hero

This is the campaign hero at the top of the page. It shows your drop name in large type next to or on top of one campaign image or video. There is no slider: one image, one sentence, one link.

  • Words: one to three short lines, one per line. When Theme settings → Motion is set to Full, the last line drifts away as letters over the image. The drifting letters use the Weather colour of the section’s colour scheme.
  • Word size: 60 to 130%.
  • Sentence: one line about the drop.
  • Link label and Link: the button. Leave the label blank to hide the button. Leave the link blank to send shoppers to all products.
  • Campaign image: set a focal point on the image in Files to keep the subject in frame on every screen.
  • Campaign video: plays muted and looped, and replaces the image. It never plays for shoppers who ask for reduced motion, or when Theme settings → Motion is set to Off.
  • Layout: Words beside the image or Words on the image. On the image, the words turn white over a dark tint.
  • Height: 60 to 100% of the screen height.

3. Lookbook

A grid of campaign images with numbered hotspots. Each hotspot opens a card for a product or a collection. See Lookbook hotspots for the full setup.

4. Collection words

Your collections as a list of large words. On a computer, the collection’s image follows the pointer when a shopper hovers a word. On phones, a small image sits beside each word.

  1. Add one Collection block per collection and pick the collection.
  2. Word overrides the collection’s title. Short words read best.
  3. Image overrides the collection’s image.
  4. Show product counts adds the number of products after each word.

5. Drop countdown

Counts days, hours and minutes to a launch, then switches to a “drop is live” message. See Count down to a drop.

6. Video

A video with a heading and text.

  • Upload a Video, or paste a link in Or a YouTube or Vimeo link. The link is used only when no video is uploaded.
  • Cover image shows before the video plays. When empty, the video’s own preview is used.
  • Plays as: Player with sound waits for the shopper to press play. Silent loop plays muted with a pause button. Silent loop needs an uploaded video, and it stays still for shoppers who limit motion.
  • Shape sets the frame: Wide (16:9), Landscape (3:2), Square or Portrait (4:5). Full width runs the video edge to edge.

7. Logo list

A row of stockist or press logos.

  1. Add one Logo block per logo. Upload the Logo image and type the Name. Screen readers read the name aloud, and it shows as text when there is no image.
  2. Add a Link if the logo should go somewhere.
  3. Use Logo height to size them evenly. Show logos in greyscale removes their colour so mixed logos sit together.

8. Blog posts

Shows the latest posts from one blog. Reel’s presets use it as a journal. See Set up a journal.

9. Other sections

  • Featured collection: product cards from one collection. Scroll sideways on phones turns the grid into a swipeable row.
  • Collection list: collection tiles with images.
  • Slideshow: up to six slides. Slides only change on their own if you turn on Change slides automatically. Shoppers then get a pause button.
  • Image with text, Multicolumn, Rich text and Statement: words and images. Statement sets one line in large type. With Motion set to Full, its letters gather into place once as it scrolls into view.
  • Testimonials, FAQ and Newsletter.

Most sections have a Color scheme, a Top padding and a Bottom padding. Use the colour scheme to set a section apart from its neighbours, and the padding to control the space between them.
