A section is missing on mobile

A section that shows on a computer but not on a phone usually has one of a few causes. Work through them in order. Most take a minute to check.

1. Preview on a phone size

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Switch the preview to mobile with the device icon at the top of the editor.
  3. Scroll to where the section should be.

The editor preview is close to a real phone, but not identical. Check the live page on your own phone too.

2. Check the section isn’t hidden

In the left panel, a hidden section shows a crossed-out eye icon and greyed text. Hiding a section hides it on every screen size, not only on phones. Click the eye to show it again.

3. Check the section has content

Many sections show nothing to shoppers until they have something to show. For example, a section that lists blog posts stays hidden until the blog has a post, and a product row stays empty until its collection has products. In the editor you may see sample content that shoppers never see.

  • Open the section and check that its collection, blog, product or image is picked.
  • Check that the collection or blog has published content.
  • Check that the products are available on the Online Store sales channel.

4. Check the phone layout

Some sections change shape on phones rather than disappear. A grid can become a row you swipe sideways, so only the first item shows at first. Menu images and extra menu levels can be left out of the phone menu. Your theme’s own guides say what each section does on a phone.

5. Check apps and custom code

A section added by an app, or code in a Custom Liquid section, follows its own rules. Check the app’s settings for a mobile option, or contact the app’s developer.
